Burnin' Daylight Hat

$26.00
Let me set the scene: it's hour two of a three hour shoot. My director of photography is loading up a dolly rig, or wheeled cart that the camera sits on to create movement in the frame. Time is slipping away from us, but these dolly shots are essential to how I envisioned this scene unfolding. A mentor of mine (one of the best I ever had) comes up to me and gently whispers, "you're burning daylight right now." He had a point- if we spend more time rigging up the dolly, we likely have to commit to whatever shots we get. That means if there are any issues once we start shooting, we have to use them in the finalized film. But if we abandoned the dolly, the effect I was going for in this scene would totally be ruined. I believed the film would not be the same without these shots.

I gently turned to him and said "thank you." We rigged up the dolly in time, got the shots, and the effect of the dolly in this scene really added something to the finished film. The Burnin' Daylight Hat is inspired by that phrase; to sticking to your gut during a tough decision and satisfying the creative process.

Sold in multiple colors - one size fits all.

• 100% chino cotton
